Get Twitter Text Messages

I can’t explain the excitement I get when I pick up my cell phone and see that I have a Twitter text message waiting for me. Which friend on Twitter could the text message be from? Could the text message be important information about my industry, first leaked through Twitter? Is the text message another snarky comment from someone’s Twitter account to give me a brief laugh? I don’t know- but the excitement is killing me.
When I first signed up on Twitter I found that I would subscribe to get a text message from everyone I was following. Soon I got so many text messages (luckily I have the unlimited plan) that my phone was constantly beeping- actually, I use a lick from U2′s “Mysterious Ways” as my text message notification sound. My wife started to glare at me every time I got a text message from Twitter, so I had to turn the sound off and unsubscribe to a couple Twitter friends.
My initial excitement started to wear off when I realized, for all the Twitter text messages, I could get I could not receive my own Twitter @ replies by text message. What!? I could send all the text messages I wanted to but I could not receive a text message from anyone using Twitter to contact me. This was a problem- I would mention something on Twitter and have to wait to get to my computer before I knew someone had replied to me. Why couldn’t a Twitter text message give me a reply?
This is why I created FeedTwit. It is a program that sends your @ replies to you as text messages. All you have to do is follow @FeedTwit on Twitter. Then you will be sent a password by direct message. You take that password and go to the FeedTwit website and sign up to receive your replies by direct message. If you have set up your phone with your Twitter account to get direct messages by text message, you will then begin to receive your Twitter replies by text message.
With FeedTwit you don’t need the data plan (although I recommend an unlimited text message plan) to use Twitter while away from your computer. Just follow FeedTwit, log in, and begin to get your replies by Twitter text message.
