Twitter Replies

Twitter replies is what makes Twitter a useful social network. Without replies, Twitter is just a narcissistic way to tell people what you are doing- like they really care. But with Twitter replies people can engage with you- with replies telling you that you are being a narcissist, for example.

I have found the most useful part of Twitter is asking questions. The replies I get from my questions are usually very helpful. I try to follow people in my industry and they are very gracious to offer their constructive replies to what I am doing or any questions I might have.

There are a couple limitations with Twitter replies, however. First, you can’t get Twitter replies as text messages or SMS. When I am out-and-about I can send a text message to tell people what I am doing or to ask a question, but I have to wait to get to my computer before I can read their replies. Sure I could get device updates for EVERY person I am following but I don’t really want that many SMS messages coming to my phone. Besides, that brings up another problem…

The other limitation to Twitter replies is that they often get lost in the noise. The more I participate in Twitter the more people I follow. The more I follow the harder time I have in actually keeping up with people (no wonder Shaq never replies to my messages).

There is a solution to both Twitter replies problems- FeedTwit. This service can take your Twitter replies and send them as direct messages. Consequently, if you have paired your phone with your twitter account and have device updates turned on, you will then get your replies by SMS. Even if you don’t have your phone on or use text messages, FeedTwit prevents your replies from being lost in the overwhelming mass of Tweets of the people you follow by sending them to your direct messages page.

FeedTwit is easy to use. All you have to do is follow @FeedTwit. Next this program will send you a password which you will use to log into the official FeedTwit website: http://feedtwit.com/. After logging in you will be asked if you want to receive your Twitter replies as direct messages. Once you press the button and tell it, “yes,” you will start to receive your Twitter replies.

I think you will find that getting your Twitter replies in this way will help you stay in the conversation and enhance your Twitter experience.
