Twitter Messaging

Messaging is what makes Twitter so usefulTwitter messaging is an important part of Twitter. Although I don’t think Twitter was initially designed for this (hence the question: “What are you doing?”), messaging is an important part of why many of use use this service. Twitter messaging is useful for a general invite somewhere, a question to your industry peers, or even a movie recommendation (or warning). Messaging is what Twitter is all about.

Since messaging is such an important part of using Twitter many of us run into a problem- how can we keep up with twitter messaging when we are not sitting in front of our computer staring at the screen. Some people can afford a data-plan for their phone, and they can watch the messages while they are away from their screen. Others of us have to rely on text messages to keep up with Twitter messaging. But there is still a problem for us- we never know when someone is messaging us since Twitter does not send your replies by SMS.

That was a problem until FeedTwit. This is a Twitter service that forwards your replies to your Twitter account by direct message. So, if you have your cell phone connected to your Twitter account, you will then get your replies by text message.

FeedTwit is about more than Twitter messaging, it can take any RSS feed you choose and also send it to you as a direct message (and SMS).

Using FeedTwit is simple. First you follow @FeedTwit in your Twitter account. Next you will receive a password (by direct message) with a password. Take your password to FeedTwit’s homepage and log in. From there you can tell FeedTwit what Twitter messaging you would like to receive.
