I am not getting my Twitter replies
Have you paired your Twitter account with your phone?
If not, visit http://twitter.com/devices and give Twitter your mobile phone number. FeedTwit uses Twitter to send messages to your phone. Please note: if you limit the time Twitter sends you messages, you will also limit the times FeedTwit can send you replies.
Are you sure you are missing any messages?
To find the messages Twitter thinks it has sent you, log into feedtwit.com and click on the RSS icon beside feed you are missing tweets from.
Was the missing message sent less than 10 minutes ago?
FeedTwit sends your Twitter messages to you every five minutes. That means you might have to wait more than 5 minutes before you receive a message. During peak Twitter usage hours, this delay might be longer.
Your Twitter homepage has a list of @ replies that is different than the list of message FeedTwit thinks it should send you. Can you account for the difference between these list by any of the following reasons:
Did the missing message come from someone who protects their tweets?
Visit http://twitter.com/followers Is there a lock beside the username of the person whose tweet is missing. If so, they have protected their tweets. FeedTwit can’t send you messages from someone who has protected their messages.
Did the missing message start with @your_username?
By default FeedTwit sends you messages sent directly to your Twitter username- that begin with @your_username. This means FeedTwit will overlook messages that contain @your_username anywhere else in the message.
If you are particularly paranoid, and want to know when people are talking about you and not just to you, here’s how you tell FeedTwit how to send you all your Twitter mentions:
- login to feedtwit.com
- Select the feed that sends messages “to:your_username” and delete the feed
- visit http://search.twitter.com/
- in the search box enter @your_username (of course, you will give your real twitter username)
- On the right side of the results you will see a link to “Feed for this query.” Follow that link
- Copy that URL, take it to http://feedtwit.com and paste it into the “Please send this RSS feed to me (your_username) as a direct message:” box and then press the “Add Feed” button
- Typically you will begin to receive all your new Twitter mentions within about 10 minutes
Is Twitter up and running?
Twitter is notorious for going down. Sometimes it isn’t their fault- like when the Russians attack- othertimes misterious gremlins hit their system. Try visiting your Twitter homepage. If you get the Fail-Whale you’ve gotten to the bottom of your problem. Check http://status.twitter.com/ to see if they have any predictions to when they might be up and running again.
Still having problems?
I love Twitter but let’s face the facts: Twitter is always having problems. I have noticed many inconsistencies in the messages Twitter thinks you should receive. It’s hard to figure out exactly why Twitter overlooks some messages.
If you have not received any Tweets for a while and none of the above solutions seem to help, feel free to send FeedTwit a message or contact me through this website to tell me you are having problems. I’ll see what I can do to help- and maybe you’ve uncovered a problem other people are having as well.
