More on Twitter SEO Link Building

Previously I talked about how you might use Twitter for SEO, specifically to help with link building. I forgot to mention another important part of building SEO through links using Twitter. There are a couple of sites that are mirroring Twitter updates. Some of these will actually take the link and expand it to show it with an appropriate anchor tag and a follow-link (the gold-standard of SEO link building because they are able to pass link juice).

Use a service lilt Twitturly to get all the SEO advantages out of Twitter

The service I am thinking of is called Twitturly. When you visit their site you will see the most popular links shared on Twitter. You can also ask it to only show links from a particular user. Take my Twitter app, FeedTwit, for example. You can see the different sponsors by just giving the username for the FeedTwit Twitter account. (In fact, if you want the SEO advantages of adding your link to this list, you can sponsor FeedTwit).

Now the Twitturly user pages are not normally reachable by the Google spider. Unless you have an already popular link you have to get to your results through a search, which the spider won’t be able to follow. To get the real SEO advantages of this service you will have to put the link to them somewhere Google can find it- like I just did.

The best part about Twitturly is that it generates an RSS feed for each result. I love RSS feeds (sending RSS feeds to Twitter was one of the first purposes of FeedTwit) and I think they are seriously underrated in SEO circles. You can take an RSS feed to ping any number of services (including Google itself) to tell them to pay attention to your site (which is another thing I do for those who sponsor FeedTwit). You can submit your RSS feed to various feed aggregators, which then pass on SEO link juice to your site. Besides the SEO advantages RSS is a convenience that will keep people engaged in you and your site.

Have you found any other sites that mirror Twitter updates and pass link juice for better SEO? Just add them to the comments below.

I am just starting to look into twitter as a way of generating links. On the surfce it does seem as if it’s quite tricky but looking into it a bit more there seems to be so many ways of utilising it. The tool sounds interesting, ill have to look at it.
